Using Kiosk Check-In Mode for self-service attendee scanning

Kiosk Check-In Mode turns your tablet or computer into an unattended self-service check-in station where attendees scan their own QR code as they arrive. After each successful scan, the screen automatically resets after a short countdown and is ready for the next attendee — no staff action needed.

Enabling Kiosk Mode on your event

Kiosk Mode is enabled per event from the event's Advanced Settings in the create/edit event form.

  1. Go to My Account → Manage Events and click Edit for your event.
  2. Scroll to the Advanced Settings section.
  3. Enable Kiosk Check-In and set a PIN (the PIN protects the kiosk URL so only your staff can open it).
  4. Optionally, set the Countdown Timer (in seconds) — this controls how long the confirmation screen is shown before the scanner resets. The default is 5 seconds.
  5. Save your event.

Opening the Kiosk

  1. From the Event Dashboard, open the check-in page for your event.
  2. In the top-right corner of the check-in page, click the Kiosk Mode button.
  3. Enter your PIN when prompted.
  4. The screen switches to Kiosk Mode — full-screen, self-service scanning is now active.

How it works for attendees

  1. The attendee opens the app on their phone and displays their QR code ticket.
  2. They hold the QR code up to the device camera.
  3. The screen shows a confirmation (name, ticket type, and check-in status).
  4. After the countdown, the screen resets automatically and is ready for the next attendee.

Security & access

  • The kiosk URL requires a PIN before it activates, so unauthorized people cannot open it accidentally.
  • The PIN is set per-event in Advanced Settings and can be changed at any time by editing the event.
  • The kiosk session is tied to that device only — other staff can still use the regular check-in page or the mobile app simultaneously.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run Kiosk Mode and normal check-in at the same time? Yes. You can have one device in Kiosk Mode at the main entrance while staff use the standard check-in page or mobile app at other checkpoints.

What happens if the screen times out or goes to sleep? Simply wake the device. If the kiosk session is still active, it will resume immediately. If the session has expired, re-enter the PIN.

Can I change the countdown timer? Yes — the countdown (in seconds) is configurable in the Advanced Settings of the event. The default is 5 seconds.

Does kiosk mode work offline? No. An internet connection is required to validate tickets in real-time and prevent duplicate check-ins.
