Troubleshooting "validation failed" error when creating or editing events
Problem:
You may encounter the following error message when trying to create or edit an event:
validation failed acf was unable to perform validation due to an invalid security nonce
What does this mean?
This error typically occurs when there's an issue with the security token (called a "nonce") that our system uses to verify actions. This can happen due to browser caching or if you've been logged in for an extended period.
Solution:
The easiest way to fix this issue is to perform the following steps:
Log Out: Completely log out of you Ticket Falcon account.
Clear Your Browser Cache: Clear your browser's cache and cookies. Here's how you can do it in popular browsers:
- Chrome: Go to
chrome://settings/clearBrowserData
, select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data" and click "Clear data." - Firefox: Go to
about:preferences#privacy
, under "Cookies and Site Data" click "Clear Data," select "Cached Web Content" and "Cookies and Site Data" and click "Clear." - Safari: Go to
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
, click "Remove All." - Edge: Go to
edge://settings/clearBrowserData
, select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data" and click "Clear now."
- Chrome: Go to
- Log Back In: Log back into Ticket Falcon using your credentials.
- Retry: Try creating or editing the event again.
Why this works:
- Logging out invalidates any existing sessions and tokens.
- Clearing your cache removes outdated data stored by your browser that might be interfering with the current session.
- Logging back in establishes a fresh connection with the correct security tokens.
Alternative steps if problem is not solved:
If clearing the cache and logging back in does not resolve the issue, please also try the following:
- Try a different browser: Sometimes, specific browser extensions or settings can cause conflicts. Try using a different web browser to see if the problem persists.
- Disable browser extensions: Temporarily disable browser extensions, especially those related to ad-blocking or security, to see if they are causing interference.
- Incognito/Private Browsing: Open an incognito or private browsing window and try accessing the event management system. This prevents the browser from using existing cookies or cache.
